T+L Reports: Parisian Fast Food

Like this article?

Have a half-hour to kill in Paris?Just a stone's throw from the Palais de l'Élysée, the modern and bright Atelier des Chefs (10 Rue de Penthièvre, Eighth Arr.; 33-1/53-30-05-82; www.atelierdeschefs.com; lunch for two $35) has created a midday class for foodies on the go who have little time to take—let alone make—a leisurely lunch. In this state-of-the-art kitchen, workshop-style cooking classes are taught by an international roster of chefs from notable Parisian restaurants, offering instructions for easy but sophisticated seasonal dishes, such as sautéed skate in a tangy caper sauce, in 30 minutes flat. The hands-on classes are taught only in French, but the lessons really boil down to following the chef's step-by-step demonstrations —so you won't go hungry if you can't remember the difference between hacher and émincer.
