PALM BEACH DINING
With more than 2,300 restaurants in Palm Beach County, virtually everything is available. If a food group predominates, it is seafood.

CAFÉ L'EUROPE

One of the county's best, it is known for elegant decor in its main dining room, a less-formal bistro and the culinary acumen of executive chef Jens Dahlman. A signature dish is ceviche of fresh Florida Key snapper in lime, grapefruit and avocado with taro-root chips.

ECHO

A melting pot for Asian cuisines of all sorts.

HAVANA
(Cuban) 6801 South Dixie Highway, East Palm Beach; 561-547-9799. $$
One of the best of the local Cuban menus, authentic and extensive.

L'ESCALIER
(French) The Breakers Palm Beach, One South County Road, Palm Beach; 561-659-8440. Jacket required. $$$$
Perhaps the most sophisticated restaurant in the county, it features a daily foie gras special, a "fromagier" and a 6,500-bottle wine cellar.

NEW YORK PRIME

This cigar-friendly joint with a piano bar is the sirloin lover's choice.

THE RESTAURANT

Chef Hubert Des Marais's style blends traditions of the Deep South, the Caribbean and South and Central America.

SAILFISH MARINA & RESORT'S WATERFRONT RESTAURANT & BAR

An archetypal Florida establishment and a great place to take kids.

SOPRA
(Italian) 110 East Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach; 561-274-7077. $$$$
Chef Glenn Manfra has created a buzz here. If you cannot get a table in the main dining room, there's also outdoor seating.

SPOTO'S OYSTER BAR
(Seafood) 125 Datura Street, West Palm Beach; 561-835-1828. $$$
Considered among the best restaurants in the county for seafood.

32 EAST
(Eclectic) 32 East Atlantic Avenue, Delray Beach; 561-276-7868. $$$
Chef Nick Morfogen likes to shake things up a bit. For a welcome update of a standard, try the Key lime and raspberry tart brûlée.
