North America's Best Whale-Watching Spots

Glacier Bay, AK

Not only home to the Pacific humpback, Alaska’s Glacier Bay National Park also hosts a vast array of other species, including minke and blue whales. The latter are the loudest animals on earth; when first recorded, their subsonic calls were thought to be earthquakes. A blue whale singing in Glacier Bay can be heard by his compatriots in Japan.

Season: June to August.
