In the Florida Keys, the days of funky motels and cozy guesthouses are giving way to a new upscale era, thanks to four just-opened hotels. LXR Luxury Resorts & Hotels had a hand in three of the renovations, spending millions on clean, modern updates. At the 13-acre Key Largo Grande Resort & Beach Club, you'll find dark wood accents and imported Italian tile floors. Teak millwork punctuates the newly redone earth-toned lobby at the 1920's landmark Casa Marina Resort & Beach Club. And the 150 breezy rooms at the Reach Resort now have coconut-shell headboards and bathrooms with abstract art. Elsewhere in the Keys, Hawks Cay Resort has been overhauled to the tune of $40 million. Expect an entirely new look, with West Indian furniture and private cabanas.
