Acqua
Alberto Baudo and Valeria Rubino recently took over this beloved Italian restaurant. They’re keeping the homemade pasta and preserving the space’s airy farmhouse feel, plus they’ve added some meatier dishes, like a standout pizza with arugula and prosciutto (21 Peck Slip; 212/349-4433; dinner for two $50).

Leotine
Owner Kyung Lee is an NYC fashion editor’s secret weapon, and she has opened her most ambitious, luxe shop to date. Nab custom-made gowns by up-and-coming design talent, antique European jewelry, apothecary treats from Santa Maria Novella, John Robshaw’s Indian cotton linens, and just-picked flowers with chic vases to hold them. (226 Front St.; 212/766-1066).

Jack’s Stir Brew
With a cult following already established at his original outpost in Greenwich Village, Jack Mazzola’s cozy organic beanery percolates some of the city’s best coffee and always has a jar of Aunt Rosie’s addictive chocolate-chip cookies on hand (222 Front St.; 212/227-7631; www.jacksstirbrew.com).

Barbarini Alimentari
The as-authentic-as-it-gets Italian antipasti changes daily at this small café, depending on the season. Grab a table, or, in warmer weather, get a picnic to go. Don’t forget dessert: the torta della nonna is a must-try (225 Front St.; 212/227-8890; lunch for two $40; www.barbarini.net).

Pasanella and Son Vintners
The attention-grabbing 1967 Ferrari set against an Old-New-York backdrop might lure you in; the friendly service and outstanding wine selection will make you linger long enough to buy a bottle or two. Stop by for free tastings on Thursdays and Saturdays (115 South St.; 212/233-8383; www.pasanellaandson.com).
