The T&L Golf Itinerary
Day One: Arrive in Auckland. Get your bearings with a lunch cruise on Waitemata Harbor with Pride of Auckland (011-64-9-373-4559). Then visit the Auckland War Memorial Museum (011-64-9-309-0443) before enjoying Pacific Rim cuisine at Cin Cin on Quay or seafood at the Kermadec.
Day Two: Play Gulf Harb our. After a quick lunch at the clubhouse, watch the America's Cup races or prelims at nearby Hauraki Gulf. Dine at the Orbit Restaurant in the Sky Tower and admire the views of the "City of Sails."
Day Three: Drive over the Bombay Hills and along the Waikato River to the town of Rotorua. Visit the Agrodome (011-64-7-357-4350) and learn about New Zealand's sheep culture. Don't miss the sheep performing "live on stage." Also, stop by the Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve & Maori Cultural Centre (011-64-7-348-9047).Drive to Taupo and eat at Edgewater atManuels.Take in the scenery of Lake Taupo and catch rainbow trout aboard one of Chris Jolley Outdoors's luxury launches (011-64-7-378-0623). The crew will barbeque right onboard any fish you and your mates catch.
Day Four: Play New Zealand's finest inland course at Wairakei International. Lunch at Walnut Keep. Get your adrenaline pumping by jet-boating with Huka Jet(011-64-7-374-8572) to the roaring Huka Falls. You can also white-water raft with the same company. Dine at Finch's.
Day Five: The drive to Wellington features views of Lake Taupo, Mount Ruapehu and the fertile Manawatu farming area. Play Paraparaumu, considered by many to be New Zealand's top course. Have lunch at the clubhouse or find a spot along the coast. In Wellington, eat fine northern-Italian cuisine at Il Casino Ristorante.
Day Six: Play Wellington Golf Club. The afternoon is free for sightseeing around New Zealand's capital city. Visit the parliament buildings (011-64-4-471-9999) or Te Papa National Museum (011-64-4-381-7000). Don't miss the "Awesome Forces" exhibition at Te Papa. Try the modern New Zealand fare at the White House.
Day Seven: Book an early-morning flight to Queenstown so that you leave plenty of time for a sightseeing trip to the Milford Sound (Glenorchy Air,011-64-3-442-2207, or Air Fiordland, 011-64-3-442-3404). Once you arrive in Queenstown, be sure to take the Skyline Gondola at sunset (011-64-3-442-7860) and soak up the stunning view from on high. After a day in the air, enjoy a nautical-theme dinner at HMS Brittania.
Day Eight: Start your day with a round at the Bob Charles-designed Millbrook. Try any one of the four restaurants at Millbrook for lunch. Eat lightly before an afternoon of bungee-jumping (Pipeline Bungy, 011-64-3-442-5455, or AJ Hackett Bungy,011-64-3-442-7100). To return your heart rate to normal, take a relaxing steamboat ride to Walter Peak with Fiordland Travel (011-64-3-442-7500). Then eat dinner at the 19th.
Day Nine: Play one of the country's most scenic courses, Queenstown Golf Club. After a hearty lunch at McNeill's Cottage Brewery, try jet-boating the Shotover River with Kawarau Jet (011-64-3-442-6142), or try the exhilarating Fly by Wire(011-64-3-442-2116). A calmer afternoon can be had at Millbrook on its many hiking and biking trails or at its spa, indulging in one of its treatments or a massage. If you haven't yet tried New Zealand lamb, be sure to do so at Gantley's.
Day Ten: Squeeze in one last round at Millbrook or Queenstown. Or pick up some souvenirs at the many shops on The Mall, or on Beach Street and Shotover Street, in Queenstown, before heading home.
