Château de Bagnols, France
This grand estate in the Beaujolais countryside near Lyon, built in the 13th century and restored by Lady Hamlyn in the 1980s, is a romantic escape par excellence. At the heart of the landmark château—surrounded by vineyards and approached via an authentic drawbridge—awaits the magnificent Salles des Gardes dining room, site of France’s largest Gothic fireplace. The coat of arms above the hearth marks the royal visit of Charles VIII in 1490.
