Who cares about five stars when you’re sleeping under a sky teeming with millions of them?In remote corners of Montana, three luxury camps let nature lovers go off the grid in style. Six wooden cabins and three spacious tents are available at Moonlight Basin (Big Sky; 800/845-4428; moonlightbasin.com; doubles from $350), where guests can fly-fish in the Madison River and hike 1,200 miles of trails in Yellowstone National Park, then dine on grass-fed buffalo steaks. In the “Sleeping with the Cattle” program at Papoose Creek Lodge (1520 U.S. Hwy. 287 N.; 888/674-3030; papoosecreek.com; doubles from $1,005 for three nights), participants learn about sustainability at fireside chats, then unwind in mobile safari-style tents. Finally, there’s the established Tent City at Paws Up (40060 Paws Up Rd.; 866/894-7969; pawsup.com; doubles from $595). Six canvas-walled cabins are furnished with king-size beds; at midday, a camping butler arrives to organize nighttime programs, from alfresco poetry readings to gourmet s’mores-making.
