Got $1.3M to Spend? Build the Statue of Liberty.

If you thought visiting some of the world’s most popular tourist landmarks was expensive (ticket prices: they add up!), just wait until you find out how much they cost to make. HomeAdvisor, a website that helps homeowners find local pros for in-home projects—pulled together some information on sights around the world and what kind of money it would take to recreate these structures today.

Taking inflation into account, HomeAdvisor combined material and labor costs to come up with a final count. Some landmarks end up coming in a little less expensive, others not so much. All construction costs aside, a few fun facts popped up along the way. (Did you know that the Eiffel Tower’s light bulbs alone cost $100K in today’s money? We didn't.) Big Ben

Statue of Liberty
