The Fontainebleau
The legendary Rat Pack hangout is now filled with families. A big draw is that you can stay in an apartment—I don't know about you, but I get very tired of restaurant meals. While the twins raced around the mini water park, the rest of us lounged in a poolside cabana. 4441 Collins Ave.; 305/674-4646; www.fontainebleau.com; doubles from $159

Ritz-Carlton
Who knew there were people ready to clean your sunglasses for you? This resort might be even more over-the-top than the Mandarin Oriental: pool butlers provide fruit kebabs, lemon-scented Japanese-style cold towels, and chilled suntan lotion. Yes, you read that right—how will we ever go back to room-temperature sunblock? If you want to be on South Beach or in Coconut Grove, the Ritz has locations there as well, but this property is more family oriented, especially if your child is named Eloise. 455 Grand Bay Drive, Key Biscayne;305/365-4500; www.ritzcarlton.com; doubles from $389
