T+L Reports: New São Paulo Hotel

Like this article?

The name Fasano has long been synonymous with Brazil's finest restaurants. Now, more than a hundred years after his family served its first plate of polenta, scion Rogério Fasano has steered the clan into the hospitality business with an über-cool hotel in São Paulo's fashionable Jardins neighborhood. The austere red-brick façade of the Hotel Fasano gives way to a serene butterscotch interior punctuated by rich Brazilian-walnut furnishings and vibrant Iranian rugs. In each of the 64 rooms, a single remote operates blackout curtains, lights, thermostat, and TV; beds are outfitted with 500-thread-count Trussardi linens, German duvets, and six goose-down pillows. The top floors are dedicated to the spa: a heated pool, two ofuro baths, five massage rooms. Visitors wishing to experience São Paulo's happening social scene need go no farther than the ground floor's tiny piano bar, Baretto, which draws performers such as Caetano Veloso, the country's top singer. Hotel Fasano, 88 Rua Vittorio Fasano; 55-11/3896-4000; www.fasano.com.br; doubles from $230.
