Reader’s Find: Secret Scotland
My daughter and I recently discovered the antidote to overpriced U.K. hotels: Wolsey Lodges, a group of luxurious B&B’s. We stayed just beyond central Edinburgh at Windmill House (doubles from $235, including breakfast), a Georgian home tucked away on a private hill near the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. The charming hosts, Michael and Vivien Scott, put us in a huge, antiques-filled bedroom with an elegant bath and large windows looking out to the Water of Leith. It was our little secret (even some local cab drivers had yet to discover it), but too good to keep from you. —Carol Gamm, Montclair, N.J.
