Getting There

Fly to Glasgow Airport, a forty-minute drive from the heart of the Ayrshire coast. Continental Airlines (continental.com) offers daily nonstop service to and from Newark, and low-cost carrier Flyglobespan (flyglobespan.com) runs a limited schedule of nonstops to and from Orlando Sanford International Airport. You can also fly into Edinburgh and drive an hour and forty minutes. Although Glasgow Prestwick Airport is located right in Prestwick and is served by European carriers such as Ryanair, it has no connecting service with the United States.

Getting Around

Royal Troon, Western Gailes, Prestwick and Dundonald Links all lie within twenty minutes of one another. Turnberry is forty-five minutes south of Troon. Driving to Machrihanish takes at least three hours, but there are faster options: Loganair (loganair.co.uk) has two daily forty-minute flights between Glasgow and Campbeltown; Loch Lomond Seaplanes (lochlomondseaplanes.com) can fly directly into Machrihanish; and the Kintyre Express (kintyreexpress.com) can ferry up to twelve people in a high-speed charter boat from Troon to Campbeltown in just over an hour.
