Maine
Old Marsh Country Club, Wells (semiprivate).
Opening: July 4
In the same way he’s approached restorations of Golden Age designs, Brian Silva has channeled the spirits of C. B. Macdonald and Seth Raynor in creating this course in southern Maine. Old Marsh, located ten minutes south of Kennebunkport on a flattish woodland property, features variations of classic hole types: There’s an Alps, a cape, a narrows and a double plateau, among others. The course is marked by steep slopes and bunker faces as well as platform greens cut in geometric shapes.
