The latest addition to Brighton's hip-list: a witty take on a New England beach bar, serving such other-side-of-the-pond specialties as clam chowder, Maine crab cakes, and lobster cheesecake. Matching the menu at the Brighton Rock Beach House are the bright, bleached-wood interiors. On sunny days, regulars drink cocktails at streetside picnic tables, set amid sea grass and driftwood. The sound track is a mix of lounge and jazz, with the occasional strains of—what else?—Patti Page's greatest hit: "Old Cape Cod." Brighton Rock Beach House, 6 Rock Place, Kemptown; 44-1273/601-139; lunch for two $42.
