What's your favorite summer getaway?

"The best vacation we ever took with our kids—Gus was three and Alice was one—was at the Ritz-Carlton in Key Biscayne, Florida. The hotel has the perfect mix of grown-up elegance and child-friendly charm. The pools are kept nice and warm, and, best of all, they don't have edges or steps; you can just walk right in." "My son and I love to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal in Orlando. We play the rock-and-roll trivia contest at the pool (there's always music playing underwater) and eat lots of steak at the Palm." (www.hardrock.com)

"We always take our two boys, now eight and six, to Paris when I go there for business. The kids love the carousel and ponies in the Tuileries, and the escalator and Niki de Saint Phalle fountain at the Centre Pompidou. We end up making at least two trips to Le Bon Marché, on Rue de Sèvres, because it has a wonderful toy department. After much research, we've found two restaurants in Paris that actually welcome and embrace children: Les Gourmets des Ternes [87 Boulevard de Courcelles; 33-14/227-4304], which has exceptional steak frites, and the Blue Elephant [43-45 Rue de la Roquette; 33-14/700-4200], with great Thai food and a koi pond to look at while you wait for dinner."

"Last summer I took my kids to Cacaxtla, one of the best places in Mexico to see pyramids and just a two-hour easy car ride from Mexico City. The site is small and manageable, and you can see underground murals with the original bright blue and red paint. Stay an hour away in Tlaxcala, at the Hotel Posada San Francisco [17 Plaza de la Constitucion; 52-246/462-6022; www.posadasanfrancisco.com]. Tlaxcala is the perfect Mexican city to visit because it's compact enough to give a feel for how real people live but big enough to be hip. We saw a Mexican teen with dreadlocks in the plaza—need I say more?
