T+L Reports: Hotels That Float Your Boat

Like this article?

Luxury hotels are taking surf-and-turf to another level, allowing guests to add jaunts aboard schooners and yachts to their stays. Voyagers on Aman Resorts' new Komodo Expedition (800/477-9180; www.amanresorts.com; doubles from $2,100, all-inclusive) cruise for three nights through eastern Indonesia on the 114-foot Silolona, a teak- and ironwood schooner known as a phinisi. After trekking to Komodo, the native habitat of the world's largest lizard, visitors can take a respite in one of the 20 tents at Amanwana, in the Moyo Island nature reserve. • The 83-room waterfront Delamar Greenwich Harbor hotel (203/661-9800; www.thedelamar.com; doubles from $612, including cruise) in Greenwich, Connecticut, picks up guests in Manhattan on Holland-made yachts for the 3 1/2-hour journey up Long Island Sound. • Perhaps inspired by the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa's Island Explorer, Dhoni Mighili (960/450-751; www.dhonimighili.com; doubles from $1,400), a 1.7-acre island resort in the Maldives, lets visitors sleep in dhonis—65-foot custom wooden sailboats. For those prone to seasickness, six auxiliary bungalows are rooted on terra firma.
