Perhaps more than any other place, Asia embodies both permanence and flux. Centuries-old temples in the hinterlands of Tibet and Cambodia are a testament to the inherent force of the continent's history, while cities such as Tokyo and Singapore bear witness to the strength of its modernity. Through a collection of images in the double-volume Inside Asia ($125, Taschen), celebrated Swiss photographer Reto Guntli examines the interiors of shrines, houses, palaces, and skyscrapers that reflect the Pacific Rim's bracing juxtapositions.
