Ecogolf in Costa Rica

The T&L Golf Itinerary

Day One: Play Cariari Country Club. Lunch at Meliá Cariari. Drive (or hire a car and driver) for a scenic three-hour trip to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano. Stop on the way in Sarchi, where the famous Costa Rican painted oxcarts are produced. Check in at the Arenal Observatory Lodge. Take a Night Lava Tour, then dine and enjoy a hot-springs soak at Tabacón Resort.

Day Two: Hike or ride a horse to cooled lava flows or fish for rainbow bass on Lake Arenal. Drive around the lake to Meliá Playa Conchal Beach & Golf Resort. Eat dinner at Camerón Dorado.

Day Three: Play Garra de León. Lunch in the clubhouse. Visit local beaches and the neighboring town of Tamarindo. Sunset cocktails on the terrace at the Tamarindo Diria. Dine on wahoo and boffo banana creme pie at Nogui Bar/Sunset Café.

Day Four: Charter an early-morning boat from the Flamingo Beach Marina in search of sailfish. Have Marie's--near Playa Flamingo--prepare your catch. Play an afternoon round at Rancho las Colinas. Enjoy dinner and dancing at Amberes.

Day Five: Play Garra de León, then drive to Los Sueños Marriott Beach & Golf Resort. Or make the three-hour trip to idyllic Hotel Punta Islita and take a two-day golf holiday.

Day Six: Play Los Sueños. Lunch in the clubhouse.Drive to Manuel Antonio Nature Reserve. Have dinner at Caliche's Wishbone in the beach town of Jacó.

Day Seven: Drive to San José. Lunch at the Hotel Grano de Oro. See the Museo Nacional and Plaza de la Cultura. Dine at panoramic Le Monastere or Ram Luna.
