T+L Reports: Affordable London Hotel

Like this article?

London has a reputation for being one of the world's most expensive cities, so it's not surprising that affordable places to stay are in short supply. The recently opened 20-room Guesthouse West (163-165 Westbourne Grove; 44-207/792-9800; www.guesthousewest.com; doubles from $209) is a handsome stucco-fronted Edwardian house at the fashionable end of Westbourne Grove, close to boutiques and cafés. A self-styled upmarket bed-and-breakfast, it has all the conveniences you'd expect from a hotel, but with local flavor—room service comes from Tavola, Alastair Little's acclaimed Italian deli, and bathroom amenities are supplied by neighboring shop Space NK. Bedrooms aredecorated in beige, black, and cream, with the requisite crisp white bed linens, flat-screen televisions, and Wi-Fi. Added bonus: the team behind some of west London's most revered haunts (Woody's, Bush Bar & Grill) have taken over the 1950's-inspired ground-floor bar.
