T+L Reports: Hawaiian Drinking Water

Poi, pineapples, and spit-roasted pigs finally have an authentically Hawaiian chaser. Bottling company Koyo USA recently began packaging desalinated ocean water from 2,000 feet below the waves and selling it as MaHaLo Deep Sea Water (www.hawaiideepseawater.com; 34-oz. bottle $6), "the most nutrient-rich water on the planet." It's become a hit in Japan, where devotees believe the beverage reduces stress, speeds weight loss, and improves skin tone. Next month, MaHaLo will flow into Hawaiian stores with an improved version of its juice, pumped from 3,000-foot depths, and will soon roll out across the mainland. What does this magic potion taste like?Water.
