Kauai by Land, Sea, and Air
There’s really no wrong way to see this lush Hawaiian isle. Our picks:
Hike: Dozens of trails groove the 10-plus miles of red lava beds in the 2,500-foot-deep Waimea Canyon; walk the 0.3-mile Iliau Nature Loop if you’ve got tiny tots in your group, or venture out farther with older kids on the 2.4-mile Canyon and Cliff trails.
Sail: On a five-hour excursion with Na Pali Riders Raft Tours ($130 per adult, $99 per child), you’ll see the entire length of the Na Pali coastline, snorkel amid sea turtles, and enter sea caves masked by cascading waterfalls.
Hover: Island Helicopters Kauai’s Jurassic Falls Landing Adventure ($318 per person) is your only chance to stand beside 400-foot Manawaiopuna Falls, famously featured in Jurassic Park. —Lindsey Olander
