At three new hotels, the thrills are in the frills. Disney's Pop Century Resort (Lake Buena Vista, Fla.; 407/934-7639; www.disneyworld.com ; doubles from $77 ), opening next month, will be one of the company's most affordable and, at 2,880 rooms, biggest resorts yet. A four-story Big Wheel and bowling pin-shaped pools celebrate the past century—and make up for the tight guest quarters. The Four Seasons Resort Great Exuma at Emerald Bay (Great Exuma; 800/332-3442; www.fourseasons.com ; doubles from $350 ), on a sparsely developed out-island in the Bahamas, has a mile-long shallow beach and kids' activities by day (eco-hikes, scuba lessons) and night (marshmallow roasting). Sixty miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska, the Aurora Ice Hotel (Chena Hot Springs Resort; 907/451-8104; www.chenahotsprings.com ; two-night double packages $878 ) is built entirely of ice and snow. The six rooms are a chilly 28 degrees, but guests stay toasty in sleeping bags under deer hides atop ice-block beds. Reserve now: this igloo opens in mid-November and melts in April.
