Dapper hotelier Gordon Campbell Gray is spearheading a design coup in the Caribbean. Set on an isolated beach within an untamed Antigua rain forest, his new 88-room Carlisle Bay hotel has the same flawless details and service that made his One Aldwych the toast of London. Popsicle colors and Creole gingerbread have been banished, replaced by a spartan-white and pickled-gray palette. Huge Guyanese lilies float in the lobby's reflecting pool, and British photographer Jason Taylor's distorted cameos of tropical plants add splashes of color to the silk-draped suites.
