House on the Rock, Dodgeville, WI
What started as a statement against Frank Lloyd Wright evolved—over the course of many years—into a seemingly never-ending structure with more personalities than Sybil. There’s the Carousel Room, eerily stockpiled with hundreds of former carousel figurines; one room full of Santa-related items; and the Cannon Room, housing the world’s largest cannon. But the real treat is the Infinity Room: imagine a long hallway (218 feet) sticking out over a ledge, with no support underneath. Try not to think about that while you gaze out the 3,000 windows. —Joshua Pramis
