America's Best Cities for Foodies
No. 34 Las Vegas
Despite its super-high standing for celebrity chefs—from Joel Robuchon to Wolfgang Puck and Bobby Flay—voters were otherwise underwhelmed by the cuisine in Vegas: it came in last place for both neighborhood cafés and farmers’ markets. Indeed, choosing a great dinner here is often as much about the spectacle as the actual food—such as Alain Ducasse’s Mix at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, with its 24-foot chandelier and fabulous views of the Strip. No surprise, aside from those bargain buffets, Las Vegas scored in the bottom 10 for being budget-friendly.
