According to voters, fashionable Angelenos might rather shop than eat. Even so, the City of Angels prides itself on being a culinary trendsetter—home to celebrity chefs, a convoy of food trucks, and pop-up restaurants. Drinks get creative, too, at hot spots like the SLS Hotel’s Bar Centro, where bartenders make liquid-nitrogen cocktails and mojitos strained over cotton candy. L.A. may even be influencing the cupcake trend: Fonuts in West Hollywood is attracting long lines for its healthier version of doughnuts.
