High in the Swiss Alps, two new spas are looking beyond their borders for holistic inspiration. The 136-room Palace Luzern (10 Haldenstrasse, Lucerne; 41-41/416-1616; www.palace-luzern.ch; doubles from $430; treatments from $100) has six serene treatment rooms for globally inspired therapies such as Balinese massage and hot-stone chakra balancing from India. For those who prefer traditional European-style health coaching, the hotel now runs Swiss Clinics Checkup retreats, which focus on preventive maintenance and personal training. Next month, the Beau-Rivage Palace (1719 Place du Port, Lausanne; 41- 21/613-3333; www.brp.ch; doubles from $377; treatments from $60), just outside Geneva, will introduce Japanese cedar baths, Taoist massage, and Brazilian coffee beansoap scrubs at its invigorating Cinq Mondes spa. —SHANE MITCHELL
