African-inspired Fashion

Fashion gets a decidedly African twist this spring with the launch of Suno (openingceremony.us), a colorful clothing line created by up-and-coming designer Max Osterweis and inspired by his frequent visits to Kenya. Using vintage textiles, Osterweis’s whimsical collection of dresses, tunics, and swimwear is handcrafted by local artisans in Nairobi. “This is a chance to show the world a different side of the country—something other than safaris, coffee, and political unrest,” the designer says. Mission accomplished.
