Golfing Las Vegas

Rainforest Cafe
(Seafood/Continental) MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV; 702-891-8580. $$ to $$$

Let's not kid ourselves. A good family restaurant must have distractions for the tots. Here, there's lush vegetation, a 7,500-gallon saltwater aquarium and animatronic animals, as well as delicious food. In some parts of the restaurant it actually rains. Whet your appetite for dishes like the Caribe coconut chicken with grilled pineapple, the Atlantic salmon filet or the jumbo black tiger shrimp cooked over a cedarwood plank.
Along with hosting every dice, card and slot game ever invented, Vegas is the place where Silicon Valley meets Mulberry Street in the form of high-tech sports-betting parlors where you can you wager on each swing of the bat in the World Series or each down in the Super Bowl. All that is not to count the perfectly legal—and locally encouraged—imperative to play nassaus, skins, wolf and bingo-bango-bongo out on the golf course.

Best Casinos

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino
4455 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, NV; 800-473-7625.

The circular casino decorated with rock and roll icons and memorabilia is pretty small by Vegas standards, but it's the hangout of Dennis Rodman when he's in town, as well as numerous rock stars. Plus, the gambling chips are cool. A $100 million expansion recently enlarged the sports book—giving bettors more room to think about what teams to wager on.

Binion's Horseshoe
128 East Freemont, Las Vegas, NV; 800-634-6811.

In the early days Benny Binion set the standard in Vegas for good gambling and good whiskey. The Horseshoe, which annually hosts the World Series of Poker, continues the tradition. Although the place is a bit dark and the ceilings are low, they're serious about their gambling here, and the odds at Binion's table games are among the best in town.

Bellagio
3600 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV; 888-987-6667.

Bellagio is the kind of place that tempts you to press your luck. Fill your eyes with the sheer extravagance of the casino ambience, then fill your stomach with food from one of Bellagio's award-winning restaurants. High rollers get the royal treatment here—a special gaming room and personalized pampering—and few places in town offer as fine a baccarat setup.

Rio All-Suite Casino Resort
3700 West Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV; 800-752-9746.

The 120,000-square-foot casino has every game you could want, and the buffets are among the best in town. Did we mention the scantily clad cocktail waitresses adorned with purple, green and pink Brazilian carnival plumes?
