Golfing Las Vegas

Royal Star
(Chinese) The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV; 702-414-1888. $$$$

No restaurant in town offers the upscale, authentic Chinese cooking prepared by masterful Hong Kong chef Kevin Wu. Seafood pulled live from a tank is one of the specialties here. Relax in the elegant Asian dining room inside this Italian-themed hotel and you'll get a sense of what Marco Polo must have felt like on his first trip behind the Great Wall of China centuries ago.

(Italian) The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV; 702-414-3000. $$$$

Nobody does Italian better than Chef Luciano Pellegrini, who has been known to stroll the premises to charm his guests. The swank wood-paneled dining room offers a terrific wine list, appetizers like bacon-wrapped snails, and entrées like duck lasagna and lamb osso bucco. You'll never feel like sending out for pizza again.

Wine Cellar Tasting Room
Rio All-Suite Casino Resort, 3700 West Flamingo Road, Las Vegas, NV; 800-752-9746. $$$ to $$$$$

You can sample your favorite wines by the glass or in flights without blowing all your wad of golfing/gambling winnings in the cool depths of one of America's stellar cellars. Or you can go the high-roller route and cash in your chips to purchase bottles of rare vintages that retail for as much as $200,000 each.

Best Family Restaurants

(Seafood/Sandwiches) 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, NV; 702-369-3483. $$ to $$$

Located in the upscale Fashion Show Mall just down the Strip from Treasure Island, Steven Spielberg's themed restaurant has at its entrance the nose of a submarine surrounded by "exploding" depth charges. Be sure to try the signature french fries with special dipping sauces, the deep-fried carrot chips and the fresh baguette submarine sandwiches. There's also an array of pastas advertised as "to dive for." A true Spielbergian experience.
