As if we needed more prompting to sample tapenade and go running through the lavender fields of Provence. This iconic rural region welcomes two only-this-summer attractions that warrant a dedicated visit.

Bonnieux
Silencio at La Maison d’Aigebrun
Silencio—the private Parisian nightclub designed by director David Lynch—is joining forces with another iconic filmmaker, and taking its act on the road. Agnès Varda, whose former family home in the Luberon is now a gorgeous guesthouse run by her daughter, has invited the Silencio team to create a temporary club at Maison de L’Aiguebrun from May 14 to September 20.

Only Silencio team members will have access to the property’s 15 rooms, suites, and cottages, but revelers interested in DJ parties around the pool, screenings benefitting from Varda’s magic touch, or shows linked to area festivals like the annual photo fair Les Rencontres d’Arles, the Festival d’Avignon theater gathering, or the Festival International d’Art Lyrique in Aix-en-Provence, need simply inquire here.

Need more convincing? Armand Arnal of the farm-to-table bastion La Chassagnette, is handling the food.

Arles
The Paris Popup at Hotel Grand Nord Pinus
Over the last year or so, the Paris Popup’s monthly dinners—thrown by dynamic duo Laura Vidal and Harry Cummins, formerly the sommelier and second-in-command in the kitchen at Frenchie—became can’t-miss events.

They’ve now partnered with a former director of the Experimental Cocktail Club, and from mid-June to the end of August, the trio will set up camp at the beloved Grand Hotel Nord Pinus, right on the main square of Arles, for what Vidal calls “an ode to Provence.”

Everything on the four-course prix fixe menu ($50) will be rigorously sourced from the region. (Think cucumber and langoustine salad, lamb belly with smoked eggplant, or corn and verbena panna cotta with honeycomb.) There will also be a daytime menu of terrines, cured meats, salads, and ceviches. Wines will be almost entirely local, non-interventionist, and biodynamic. Open Wednesdays to Sundays.
