DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Lisbon - Fontana Park

Portuguese architect Francisco Aires Mateus renovated a 1907 iron factory to create this affordable hotel. Keeping its exterior intact, he gutted the building to make way for Zen-like interiors. Open expanses, including the Bonsai restaurant and Fontana bar, are punctuated by sharply angled glass staircases and sheaths of hammered ironwork—homages to the building’s first life. The 139 simple black-and-white rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows that provide panoramic views of the city.

Le Petit Hôtel

Housed in two buildings, including an old leather factory from the 19th century, the 24-room hotel appeals to young entrepreneurs with its tech-savvy touches like free Wi-Fi and plasma TV’s outfitted with Wii Fit stations.

Banke Hotel

As its name suggests, the four-star Banke Hotel was once a bank. Located in the Opera district of the ninth arrondissement and a short stroll from the Galeries Lafayette, the heart of this hotel is an extravagant lobby with an arched colonnade, colored in deep reds and gold. Original architectural touches from its time as a bank, such as ornate moulding and parquet flooring, remain, and art from various cultures, including Egyptian, African, and Pre-Colombian, fill each floors. Each of the hotel's 94 rooms include marble bathrooms, hardwood floors, and designer furniture.
