Insider Find: Most cruise ships' kids' programs shut down when you pull into port. One of my favorites: Royal Caribbean's Adventure Ocean program (866/562-7625; royalcaribbean.com), which has more space than many lines dedicated to kids, is subdivided into smaller age groups, and has activities like science experiments and making your own surfboard (use them on FlowRider, the surf-park-at-sea on the Freedom, Liberty, and Independence of the Seas ships). On Princess Cruises (800/774-6237; princess.com), parents get a pager and can check in on their kids at any time-activities include poolside movies and the Adventures Ashore land-excursion program designed for families.
