I pretty much disagree with this entire list. . .Memphis should absolutely be on here!! Good call on that. . .Austin is good for live music only, and I really didn't enjoy it that much to be honest. . .it was great, cool city, but "nightlife" refers to a variety of things. . .Austins only good at one, places like New Orleans, New York, Miami, Vegas. . .they're the most well-known for a reason. OOoo! and good call on Detroit as well :) Dangerous indeed, but there are great spots too!
Detroit
Detroit has a great live music scene, from clasical to jazz, blues, rock, and country. If you include Ann Arbor, we have one of the best live music scenes in the country. It is one of the few good things I can say about my home town.
Dangerous city
Live Music/Concerts
Not having Memphis on this list - one of the world's great live music cities - makes the whole survey suspect.
Nightlife
Austin is number 2? I find that hard to believe in comparison to the other cities mentioned. Austin is great for live music, but, there's no depth or breadth to what they have to offer, especially with regard to diversity. Very one dimensional selection of entertainment. If live music is the main criteria, then if Austin is number 2 then Nashville should definitely be number 3.
It's actually a shame Austin isn't number one since it is the live music capital of the world. In fact, the majority of Austin's annual income is from live music with some of the biggest music festivals of the year ACL and SXSW.
