Carmel
Weston Gallery
Between Dolores and Lincoln Sts.
Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA, United States
The third oldest vintage and contemporary photography gallery in the United States dates to 1974. Over the years, owner Maggi Weston has regularly showcased industry giants like mentor Ansel Adams, André Kertész, and Edward Weston, the art space’s namesake, Maggi’s former father-in-law, and a longtime Carmel resident. Approximately every six weeks, the gallery also spotlights photographers or showcases a particular theme—“Selections in Color” or “New Work from Japan,” as examples. The glass-fronted space in downtown Carmel’s tourist district also stocks a selection of photography books.
Insider Tip:
Ansel Adams was the godfather to Cole and Maggi Weston’s son, Matthew.
