Vélib’ is an affordable public bike-sharing system in Paris with approximately 20,000 two-wheelers and 1,800 stations. The three-speed gray bikes come with LED lights, a locking system, and a basket. Purchase bike usage by the day, week, or year using a debit or credit card (with PIN) right at the terminal. The first 30 minutes of each ride is free, with excess minutes billed to a bankcard. Passes can be purchased online one week prior to arriving in Paris.
Insider Tip:
Make certain the bike is returned properly—wait for two beeps and a green light—or else a hefty deposit may be enforced.
