Amsterdam
Van Gogh Museum
Rent a bicycle and head to Amsterdam's Van Gogh Museum, home to the largest collection of work by the influential Dutch Impressionist. The museum, located on the manicured lawn of the Museum Quarter, showcases the broad range and growth of Van Gogh’s works: from early drawings and water colors, to famous oil paintings such as The Potato Eaters, Bedroom in Arles, Still Life: Vase with Twelve Sunflowers, and nine self-portraits. The collection displays many of the painter's personal, handwritten letters, as well. The museum also possesses selected works by other artists, including Monet, Manet, and Rodin.
Insider Tip:
If the weather is nice, buy some to-go food from the museum’s café and have a picnic on the lawn outside.
