The Round Robin Bar, located inside Washington, D.C.’s Willard InterContinental Hotel, is steeped in history. Open since the 1800’s, the bar has served such influential figures as Mark Twain, Henry Clay, and Walt Whitman. The bar’s signature drink is the mint julep; in fact, Henry Clay made the first mint julep in Washington, D.C. at the Round Robin in the 1850’s, and the bar still makes the drink according to his recipe: with Makers Mark bourbon and fresh mint. Other cocktail offerings include the gin ritchey and 529 sidecar, and wines and champagne are available.
Insider Tip:
Besides cocktails, Round Robin Bar serves a small dining menu that includes soups and salads, brick oven pizzas, and small plates like shrimp cocktail.
