Sarah Walker’s large, concrete-floored shop feels like a museum for the urbane—with beautiful displays of work by clothing designers such as Hazel Brown and Gary Graham. Their pieces are simple yet elegant, in neutral shades of cotton and raw silks. This is couture with an attitude, and you can match it with Oliver Peoples sunglasses or Good Art’s heavy silver chains and bracelets. Walker and husband Charles have a few things for the boys too; score a vintage belt buckle with a pistol on it for less than $100.
Tip: Next door is Pane Bianco, an equally cool sandwich shop run by Chris Bianco, whose Pizzeria Bianco has attracted national attention from the likes of Oprah. Stop by for a post-shopping pick-me-up of homemade mozzarella and locally grown tomatoes and basil on wood-fired bread.
