Mt. Philo State Park

Situated atop the eponymous Mt. Philo, this 168-acre park contains a small, 10-site camping area as well as an enclosed picnic pavilion that can be rented for special events. Accessible via a well-maintained, paved road, the 968-foot summit provides sweeping views of the Green Mountains, Adirondack Mountains, and Lake Champlain Valley. The area is also a migratory home to more than a hundred different species of bird, making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts. A series of hiking trails lead from the park down to the base of the mountain, and sledding trails are also available during the winter.
