The online art community that sponsors this 18th floor brick-and-mortar gallery space in Sheung Wan could be described as “Facebook for artists.” Alice Zhang founded Mischmasch in 2008, and the gallery was established a year later. The community’s German moniker was inspired by the work of Lewis Carroll, and Mischmasch provides an online marketplace for artists around the world to share and sell their work and, in the true spirit of digital community, even allows real-time feedback from visitors to impact the positioning of pieces on the Website.
