Point St. Charles

Maison Saint-Gabriel

2146 Place Dublin
Point St. Charles
Montreal, Quebec, Canada
TEL: (514) 935-8136

In the western suburb of Point St. Charles, this 1668 farmstead—with a handsome stone house, outbuildings, and surrounding gardens—has been transformed into a living history museum. It was originally presided over by Marguerite Bourgeoys, founder of the Congregation of Notre Dame. One of her primary missions: educate the filles du roy (young women sent over to New France to help populate the colony) in the art of homemaking before they were married off to early settlers. The property now serves as a showcase for Quebec’s history, Breton building techniques, and historic gardening methods.
