Despite its location in Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar, the Fifth Floor lounge fails to look like a hotel bar (thankfully). Subtle lighting sets the lounge in a golden hue, and seating includes a backlit bar and round tables with plump leather chairs. Choose from cocktails like the warm Winter Port Julep, made with bourbon, port, mint, maple syrup, and bitters, or The Lonsdale Part Trois mix of gin, un-aged Calvados, lemon, and basil. Martini aficionados will enjoy sampling from the "Evolution of the Gin Martini" drink list (all variations on the classic—no chocolatinis here). The Fifth's Union Square location draws a mix of locals and tourists, many lured by Happy Hour 5.0, which tempts with $5 cocktails, wine and beer.

The $25 Burger, Bourbon, Beer combo has a devoted following. This "meal deal" includes a craft burger (with whiskey-soaked onions and comte cheese, for example), shot of premium bourbon and pint of artisan beer.
