L.A. Derby Dolls

Tattooed girls in glittery eye makeup zooming around on skates and whaling on each other. Ice hockey meets burlesque in this semi-sport finding national resurgence since resurrected in Austin, Texas, a dozen years ago. With all the subtly of TV wrestlers, Demolicious and the LA Derby Girls bring full-contact roller derby to metro Los Angeles at the Westlake rink known as the Doll Factory. Matches are raucous affairs with boisterous fans, sweaty women, live bands at half-time, and food vendors hawking their goods.
