La Barberie
La Barberie is not a place for a haircut, but a longtime microbrewery at the crossroads of the Saint-Roch district and the entrance to Lower Town. The interior of this fawn-colored building consists of a large wood bar and closely spaced tables; a wood-porch patio with white chairs, benches, and hammocks provides seating during warmer months. Head brewmaster Bruno Blais is known both for his uncut barbe (beard) and his innovative beers, such as honey stout and Early Grey amber. Because this is a working cooperative without a food license, the brewery allows outside foods and welcomes pizza deliveries.
Insider Tip:
The carousel's eight samples can be ordered in either five-ounce or 12-ounce glasses, making it a good option to split with a companion.
