Manhattan
Grace's Marketplace
Opened in 1985, Grace’s was the first gourmet food market in the Upper East Side. The store’s namesake, Grace Balducci Doria, grew up helping her parents run their shop in Greenwich Village and continued the family tradition with her husband by establishing their own small business. Although pricey, Grace’s sells delicatessen items like wild Scottish smoked salmon and more than 220 types of cheese such as Port Salut. The most popular section of the store, however, is the Tavola (prepared foods) counter, which displays everything from homemade raviolis to stuffed sole.
Insider Tip:
The market’s location on 3rd Ave. between 71st St. and 72nd St. makes it a good place to stop for picnic items on your way to Central Park.
