Garrett Popcorn
Stroll down the Magnificent Mile and stop at Garrett Popcorn. Although the company now has stores throughout Chicago and New York City, the first one opened at 10 West Madison Street, Chicago, in 1949. Garrett uses a privately grown blend of kernels along with a secret family recipe to create airy popcorn in four distinct flavors—Plain, Buttery Popcorn, CaramelCrisp, and Cheesecorn. A small bag costs $2.50.
Tip: Lines are always long but are worse during holiday hours and after lunch.
Tip: Ask to try a sample of “The Mix” (a combination of the CaramelCrisp and Cheesecorn, the store’s most popular blend). A sample bag is roughly the size of a movie theater’s small popcorn.
