Dallas
Empire Baking Company
In 1992, Robert Ozarow moved from New York to Dallas to work for an investment bank, but two years later he launched Empire Baking Company with his wife Meadors Moore. The duo first refined a line of artisan breads and then worked to create sandwiches, salads, and baked goods with the same quality and freshness patrons had praised in their bread. Housed in an unassuming storefront, the shop has limited indoor and outdoor seating, so most just stop in to grab a baguette or sandwich to go. Sandwiches include the Apple-Smoked Bacon, Lettuce and Roma Tomato on Jalapeno Cheese Bread.
Insider Tip:
Pre-made sandwiches arrive at the store as early as 9:00 a.m, so diners should come by noon for the best selection.
