Tulum

Cenote Escondido

east of Hwy. 307
2.5 miles south of Tulum, Mexico

Many cenotes—sinkholes in the subterranean rivers that riddle the Yucatán—are either limited to divers or overrun with crowds, but not this 15-by-130-foot pool, fringed with fan palms on a rocky bluff. Accessible by a short jungle trek, it includes hundreds of fish zipping through clear water, plus stunning stone formations less than 20 feet deep.
